As a company that works intensively with natural resources such as the raw material wood, sustainable action has long been anchored in the corporate philosophy of Homann Holzwerkstoffe Group.
Cologne/Munich, August 25, 2021 - Even though the reporting obligation in sustainability is not expected to come into force for most medium-sized companies until 1 January 2025, many companies recognize that sustainability is more than just a legal necessity and holds numerous competitive advantages such as cost savings, risk minimization, enhancement of reputation as well as attractiveness as an employer.
This also applies to Homann Holzwerkstoffe GmbH, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of thin, refined wood fiberboards for the furniture, door and coating industries, which last year developed a Group-wide sustainability strategy with six core objectives.
As a company that works intensively with natural resources such as the raw material wood, sustainable action has long been anchored in the corporate philosophy of Homann Holzwerkstoffe Group. However, in order to continue its own sustainability efforts in the coming years in an even more targeted manner and to prepare for the growing demands of stakeholders and legislators, the Group decided to undergo an extensive strategy process with the support of IR.on AG, including an analysis of the environment and the development of the materiality matrix. For the specific sustainability goals subsequently developed, Homann Holzwerkstoffe has taken its inspiration from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
Based on this, the first sustainability report of Homann Holzwerkstoffe GmbH was developed together with IR.on AG based on the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and published in August 2022. To accompany this, the IR.on consultants designed an information flyer for internal communication in order to roll out the new sustainability strategy throughout the company and to explain it compactly to employees.
