In order to comply with the requirements imposed on companies by the EU Taxonomy Regulation, extensive preparations are necessary for the companies concerned. Many questions arise for companies, which we have answered for our clients and partners in a webinar on the EU taxonomy. In doing so, we have bridged the gap between theory and the practical implementation as well as explained how you can master reporting in accordance with the EU Taxonomy Regulation in your company.

The EU Taxonomy Regulation is a much-discussed topic. Although it entered into force in July 2020, it has so far only affected companies that are subject to the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD). However, the new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive - CSRD for short - will expand the scope of users. For the majority of companies, reporting in accordance with the EU Taxonomy Regulation will be mandatory as of the 2025 financial year - and this is also the case for the majority of our clients. Reporting on the EU taxonomy thus represents a supplement to "classic" sustainability reporting (see CSRD webinar).
During our interaction with our clients, questions arose repeatedly in connection with the EU taxonomy: What requirements does the EU impose on us as a company? What are the differences between taxonomy eligibility and taxonomy alignment? What must be fulfilled to be able to demonstrate taxonomy alignment? What do we have to report afterwards? And above all: What are the specific steps that I have to take as a company and when do I have to start at the latest?
We addressed these questions yesterday, on the 09th of August 2023, during the ESG webinar specially developed for our clients and partners. Under the title "Successfully mastering the EU taxonomy", Anna-Lena Mayer (Head of Sustainability & ESG at IR.on) and Michael Werner (Strategic Advisor of Sustainability & ESG at IR.on) gave an overview of the stakeholder and regulatory requirements, the reporting obligation as well as the process for reporting under the EU Taxonomy Regulation. The focus of the webinar was on the practical implementation of the EU Taxonomy. The steps up to reporting were practically explained and "Next Steps" defined, which companies that will be affected by the reporting obligation in the future should start with now.
