With its proposal for the „Omnibus“ package, the EU Commission has initiated a far-reaching streamlining of the ESG regulations CSRD, CSDDD and EU Taxonomy. Although it will still be a few months before the final adoption by the EU legislative bodies, it is becoming apparent that many companies are probably no longer affected by the reporting obligations (for the time being).

But why should these companies continue to address the issue of ESG and corresponding reporting?

  • (CSRD-reporting) large companies will demand sustainability information from their suppliers in order to fulfill their own reporting obligations
  • Sustainability information is important for Banks and investors and facilitate access to finance for companies.

The EU Commission has initiated the preparation of a „voluntarily applicable“ sustainability standards announced, which is based on the existing VSME (Voluntary SME Standard) is set up. This is intended to offer the opportunity to be prepared for all requests for ESG-relevant data without having to answer a large number of individual questionnaires.

In principle, companies should continue to address the issue of sustainability, as climate-related risks, for example, will pose a challenge in the coming years. The collection and use of in-house ESG data is essential for ESG risk management. A well-founded ESG strategy ensures resilience and competitiveness and also creates economic added value, for example through cost savings in energy consumption or reduced dependence on raw material imports.

We would therefore like to invite you to talk to us about a new, lean approach to sustainability reporting based on the VSME and provide a practical insight into its possible implementation.

What you can expect

  • Overview of the contents of the EU Commission's „Omnibus“ proposal
  • Introduction to EFRAG's proposals for the design of the VSME
  • Recommendations for action and next steps for your company

Our experts Dr. Kati Beiersdorf (DRSC) and Anna-Lena Mayer (IR.on AG) are looking forward to the exchange.
